Europeans looking for “green holidays” come to Ariège in summer to enjoy hiking in a preserved natural environment. This is the busiest time of the year, yet it never feels overcrowded.
For many visitors, September and October are the best months: mild temperatures, sunshine, and trails almost to yourself. In winter, ski resorts are lively and snowshoes can be rented to explore the mountains. May and early June are perfect to admire wildflowers and blooming orchids.
Around the house, there is no shortage of walks. Many small paths of varying difficulty allow everyone to choose according to their wishes and abilities. Our house is located in a meadow at the edge of a large oak forest. Higher up, you will reach mountain pastures with lower vegetation, blueberries and rhododendrons.
– Le Corral (2–3 hours)
– Mont Béas (7–8 hours)
– Tuc de la Coume (5–6 hours)
A preserved natural area, mountain lakes, waterfalls, family walks, day hikes and even trips into Spain await you in the Haut-Couserans. For the most complete information and advice, visit the Aulus-les-Bains Tourist Office website.
