Le Pelioou is located in the heart of the Regional Natural Park of the Ariège Pyrenees. It is 120 km from the airports of Toulouse, Carcassonne, or Tarbes, approximately a one-and-a-half-hour drive via Saint-Girons, Oust, and Ercé.
The house is a former mountain cowshed perched at 950 meters above sea level on a south-facing promontory between forest and pastures. The panoramic views are exceptional:
– below, the peaceful valley landscape with the Garbet river and the village of Ercé;
– above, the wild beauty and rugged peaks of the upper Ariège mountains;
– all around, the ancient terraces once cultivated by shepherds, made fertile by abundant sunshine and numerous mountain springs and streams.
Today, these terraces are no longer farmed but are still grazed by our cows and horses.
Our cottage is a true haven of peace for those seeking tranquility: no neighbors, no noise except the sound of flowing streams and cowbells. Here, the air is pure and crystal clear, and we drink water from our own mountain spring.
