Pelioou is located in the heart of the Pyrénées Ariégeoises regional natural park. It is 120km from Toulouse, Carcassonne and Tarbes airports. It's an hour and a half drive from Toulouse via Saint Girons, Oust and Ercé.
The house is an old cow barn located at 950m on a south-facing promontory between the forest and pastures.
The panorama is superb:
- towards the bottom is the quiet landscape of the valley with the Garbet river and the village of Ercé.
- upwards is the beauty and austerity of the summits of upper Ariège.
- around the barn the shepherds of the village once held their summer quarters cultivating the terraced land which was particularly fertile because of the sunshine and the presence of numerous springs and streams allowing them to water the crops.
Today the old terraces are no longer cultivated but they are still grazed by our cows and horses.
Our cottage is a paradise for lovers of tranquility: no neighbors or noise except the sound of torrents and cow bells. Here, the air is more transparent and we drink pure water from our mountain.
